Ret Langmeier

Ret Langmeier

The artist and musician Ret Langmeier was born in 1959 in Berlin. He first conflicted with the official authorities during his military service. As a result, they barred him from studying and working.

In 1980, he planned an exhibition about the Polish “Solidarność,” a free trade union movement. The Stasi arrested him for “subversive agitation.” After four months in prison, he was committed to the forensic psychiatric unit. In 1984, he was forced to leave the GDR.
